Steven K. Larson

Steve K. Larson, age 60, of Sykeston, ND, formerly of Carrington, ND, died Friday, December 28, 2012, at Carrington Health Center, Carrington, ND.

Steven K. Larson was born on August 24, 1952, the son of Harold and Ann (Swenson) Larson at Thief River Falls, MN. The family moved to Carrington in 1960 where he attended school. He enlisted in the US Navy and served from 1970 to 1976 when he was Honorably Discharged. Steve, sometimes known as Doc, was a self-taught musician and played for many years in various bands and traveled throughout the US. He was also a partner with his father and brother in the family plumbing company. In 1977, Steve moved to Fairview, MT and returned to Carrington in the early 1990’s. He worked for Schulz Plumbing in 1997-98 and then for Elmer Finch at the 5-Spot, and later at the Jockey Club in Sykeston. He was recently employed at Carrington High School as custodian.

On August 30, 2011, Steve was united in marriage to Bev Hafner in Sheyenne, ND.

He loved music and enjoyed fishing, reading, watching westerns and gardening. Steve was a member of Bourke-Hollingsworth American Legion Post #17 in Sykeston and a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Carrington.

Steve is survived by his wife, Bev; one daughter, Carlyss Kurtti-Neufeld, Rolla, ND; two step sons, Travis (Amy) Hafner and their two sons, Blake and Trip, Avon Lake, OH and Troy (Connie) Hafner and their two sons, Taylor and Tanner, Sykeston, ND; two brothers, Wally (Pat) Larson, Jamestown, ND and Mike (Barb) Larson, Carrington, ND; two nephews, Evan (Dionne) Larson and their son Benjamin, St. Cloud, MN, Eric (Aymii) and their daughter Alex and son Nickolas, Douglasville, GA; one niece, Renae (David) Peterson and their daughters, Jada and Kate, and son Andrew, Bismarck, ND.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

FUNERAL SERVICE: Trinity Lutheran Church, Carrington, ND

INTERMENT: St. Elizabeth's Catholic Cemetery, Sykeston, ND

Message: Steve was the best Lead guitar player I ever played with in a band. We grew as good friends over the years in several groups from Shadow Creek Band to his last Band "Trademarks" and I will miss him deeply, I know the Lord loves music and his style will be missed greatly but my friend until we meet again I will have my drums always ready to play with you. I'm grateful to have known this wonderful man, until we meet again I Love you "Doc". P.S.
