Lena L. Gross, age 72, of Grand Forks, ND, formerly of Sheyenne, ND, died Saturday, March 10, 2012, at Valley Eldercare, Grand Forks, ND.

     Lena Loretta Scott was born on November 13, 1939, the daughter of Leonard and Mary (McAvoy) Scott in New Rockford, ND.  She attended country school and high school in New Rockford.  Her family moved to Sheyenne, and Lena worked at the Swift Poultry Processing Plant in New Rockford.

     Lena was united in marriage to Donald Gross on April 1, 1960 in New Rockford, ND.  Following their marriage, they lived in Pingree, ND, and then near Crary, ND.  In 1973, they moved near Sheyenne, ND.  In the late 1980’s, they moved into Sheyenne.  Donald died on April 28, 2004.  Lena has lived in Sheyenne, Grafton, and Grand Forks since that time.

    She enjoyed making pickled relish, canning, sewing, and crafts.  She enjoyed and loved her grandchildren, and also enjoyed her constant companion, her cat Sheba.

     Lena is survived by her daughter, Laurie Waldner, Sheyenne, ND; two grandchildren, Michelle Waldner, Grand Forks, ND and Jason Waldner, Jamestown, ND; 4 great-grandchildren, Dason Waldner, Tessa Mattson, Aaliyah Waldner, Damon Waldner; 2 brothers Bob and Vernon Scott of Sheyenne; 1 sister, Linda Scott, Devils Lake, ND, and many nieces and nephews.

     She is preceded in death by her husband Donald; her parents; two brothers, Mervin and Benny Scott; 1 nephew, Ben Scott and also several aunts and uncles.
