Charleen “Char” Lesmeister, age 59, of New Rockford, ND, died Friday, April 22, 2016, at CHI St. Alexius Health, Carrington, ND. Charleen Jo Messner was born on September 19, 1956, in New Rockford, the daughter of Allen and Ellen (Smith) Messner. She grew up on the family farm near Sheyenne, and attended Sheyenne Public School graduating in 1974. After graduation, Char attended beauty college in Jamestown for one year. After finishing beauty school, she worked at a hair salon in Devils Lake and later one in New Rockford. She then began working for Sioux Manufacturing in Ft. Totten, ND. Char was united in marriage to Wayne Lesmeister on May 25, 1979, at Grace Lutheran Church, Sheyenne. This was the church she had grown up in and been confirmed at. They made their home in New Rockford where they raised their children. Char began working at Lutheran Home of the Good Shepherd, New Rockford, in 1988, and was still employed in the Environmental Services Dept. She enjoyed spending her free time with her family, especially her grandchildren, and also her friends. She enjoyed her time at Juanita Lake, going on various bus tours, and attending the local plays at DPRCA. She was a member of First Lutheran Church, the Altar Circle, New Rockford Birthday Club and The Red Hat Society. Char is survived by her husband Wayne, New Rockford; daughter Tina (Jason) Bichler, West Fargo; son Jesse (Jana) Lesmeister, New Rockford; three grandchildren, Hunter and Parker Bichler and Maddyx Davis; her parents Allen and Ellen Messner, Sheyenne; three sisters, Colleen (Richard) Hoffner, Sheyenne, Connie (Robert) Hovdenes, Underwood, Arleen (Brian) Dougherty, Cedar Park, TX; two brothers Steve (Barb) Messner, Sheyenne, and Dallas (Tiffany) Messner, Cedar Park, TX; two sisters-in-law, Hilda Lesmeister, Mandan, and Beverly Lesmeister, New Rockford; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her grandparents; and three brothers-in-law, Dale Lesmeister, Larry Lesmeister, and Frank LaMonica.
