Ervin W. Lewis, age 81, of New Rockford, ND, died on Saturday, July 29, 2017, at his home under the care of his family and Hospice.

Ervin William Lewis was born on January 10, 1936, on the family farm  located in Tiffany Township, Eddy County, the son of Charles C. and Mary E. (Finley) Lewis.    He attended Lake Washington Country School.  After school he worked on the family farm.  He also worked for Dakota Tribal Industries, Fort Totten, ND, from 1996 to 2000, and for Frank Walker, New Rockford, from 1999 to 2016.  During these years he also assisted Erling Rolfson with his horses.  He married Darlene Dodds Haas on June 15, 1973, at New Rockford.

Ervin enjoyed farming, working with animals (especially horses), and  all types of mechanical work.

He is survived by Lori Haas Wahlstrom, Beulah, ND, Shawn Haas (Steve) Munson, Williamson, GA,  Thomas Haas, Lewisburg, PA, Timothy Haas, Lancaster, OH,  Billy Lewis & Jason Lewis,  both of New Rockford,  Kristin  Lewis (Aaron) Seibel, Lincoln, ND;  11 grandchildren Brittany, Bethany, Ryan, Michael, Sierra, Victoria, Seth, Joshua,  Caleb, Hannah & Lucas; 4 great grandchildren, Brynnley, Ryder, Cruz & Jet; his siblings, Elva Harrington, Minot, ND and Charles (Bill Brown), New Rockford; a sister-in-law, Marian Lewis, Sheyenne, ND; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Darlene; parents, Charles & Mary; brothers, Rollin, Clayton, Clifford, Dale; and sisters, Nellie Kraft & Gertrude Dodds.
