Lillian Moen

Lillian G. Moen, age 88, of New Rockford, ND, died Thursday, February 18, 2010, in her home.

Lillian Givilena Flaskerud was born on November 6, 1921 to Ole A. and Anna S. (Fugleberg) Flaskerud in Wells County, rural Hamberg, ND. She was baptized July 1922, at Grace Lutheran Church, Sheyenne, ND and confirmed October 1935, at Eden Lutheran Church, rural Sheyenne, ND. Lillian attended grade school at several country schools around Hamberg, ND. She attended high school at the Benson County Agricultural and Training School, Maddock, ND. On June 29, 1940, Lillian was united in marriage to Clarence Moen at Hamberg Lutheran Church at Hamberg, ND. They farmed near Warwick until moving to Glenwood, MN. When World War II began in 1942, they moved to Seattle, WA. They returned to Sheyenne and to their farm in 1945, where they lived and farmed until Clarence’s retirement in 1977. In 1983, they moved to New Rockford, ND, where Clarence died on June 1, 1999.

Lillian taught Sunday School, Lutheran Children of the Reformation, and Vacation Bible School. She was a member of the Ladies Aid, Choir, Church Board, was President of Lutheran Home of the Good Shepherd Ladies Auxillary, and State Secretary of Hospital and Homes Organization. Lillian was a 4-H leader (Luketa 4-H Club), President of Eddy County 4-H, helped organize the Eddy County Garden Club and Sheyenne Garden Club, planned the landscape and planted trees at Warsing Dam, was a member of Eddy County Betterment Association, and member and financial secretary of Sons of Norway (Maddock area)

Lillian is survived by two daughters, LouAnn (Arnold) Nyhusmoen, Connie (Dwain) Brown, both of Sheyenne, ND; six grandchildren, Jeff Nyhusmoen, Rick (Mary Lou) Nyhusmoen, Eric (Lynette) Nyhusmoen, Pam Jerome, Laurie (Roger)Allmaras, David (Kim) Brown; seventeen great grandchildren, Nicolle Ballou, Alexandria Nyhusmoen, Shay Nyhusmoen, Krysta Nyhusmoen, Daniel Nyhusmoen, Dylan Nyhusmoen, Kolton Nyhusmoen, Zachary Nyhusmoen, Trevor Nyhusmoen, Sarena Jerome, Shane Jerome, Joshua Allmaras, Danielle Allmaras, Regan Brown, Gavin Brown, Ramsey Brown, Presley Brown; four great great grandchildren, Abby, Autumn, McKinzie Ballou, and Masen Allmaras; one brother, Oliver Ardell(Avis) Flaskerud, Walla Walla, WA; two sisters, Astrid Howsen, Willmar, MN, and Mabel Weber, Mt. Lake Terrace, WA.

She was preceded in death by her husband Clarence, her parents, a grandson Daniel Brown, great grandson Richard Jerome; ten sisters, Solveig Rasmussen, Petra Sundet, Mary Simonson, Alma Mattson, Berglot “Tillie� Ruffel, Inga Grondahl, Hanna Stenerodden, Ida Gustjolen, Annette Foster, Marie Alsaker; two brothers, Donald Flaskerud and Benny Flaskerud.
