Loren Larson Sr., age 62, of Carrington, ND, died Monday, January 3, 2011, at his home surrounded by his family, and also under the care of Presentation Hospice of Carrington, after a short battle with cancer.

     Loren Dwight Larson was born on April 12, 1948, the son of Leo and Irene (Risovi) Larson at Maddock, ND. He attended school at Heimdal and Fessenden, ND. Loren attended and graduated in auto body repair at ND State School of Science in Wahpeton, ND. He joined the US Marine Corps serving in the Vietnam War in November 1968 to August 1970.

    On March 18, 1972, Loren was united in marriage to LaVon Neumiller at Grace Lutheran Church in Carrington. He worked in various places as a mechanic. In 1981, they moved to Carrington, where he worked for Midcontinent Cable TV and Kracht Implement for a time. Later, Loren became self employed doing on the farm service calls and working out of his garage, repairing anything that needed repair. He was known as Doc Lars.

     He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Carrington. Loren enjoyed hunting, camping, snowmobiling, and tinkering in his shop.

     Loren is survived by his wife, LaVon, Carrington, ND; four children, Shawn (Billie Jo) Neumiller, Carrington, ND, Tammy (Lee) Topp, Loren D. (Katie) Larson Jr., Sheri (Cole) Ellingson, all of Grace City, ND; eleven grandchildren, Sakara and Brayden Topp, Ashley, Abigail, Austin and Aaron Neumiller, Chase and Cayler Ellingson, Tristin, Myla and Lilly Larson; his parents, Leo and Irene Larson, Fessenden, ND; one brother, Donald, Cashmere WA;  one sister, Dorothy (Milton) Wisness, Maddock, ND; and several nieces and nephews.

     He was preceded in death by a brother, Gary; and a daughter-in-law, Malina Larson.
