Marlys Dietz
Marlys Dietz, age 83, died Monday, September 13, 2010, at Lutheran Home of the Good Shepherd, New Rockford, ND.
Marlys Luella Hendrickson was born January 22, 1927, to Oliver and Louise (Hove) Hendrickson in Harvey, ND, where she graduated from high school. She was united in marriage to George Dietz on November 20, 1949. George died on August 6, 1984, in New Rockford, ND. Marlys had worked at Rodenberg Department Store and Skogmos Department Store, both in New Rockford. She was a seamstress for many years until her sight failed. Marlys was a lifetime member of American Legion Auxiliary, was a member of First Lutheran Church and ELCW. She loved to walk her dog Lena everyday. She is survived by her four children; Carol (Doug) Shunk, Duncan, SC, Joyce (Robert) Gaffrey, Cando, ND, Richard (Deb) Dietz, Wichita, KS, Jon Dietz, Billings, MT; six grandchildren; and two great grandchildren. Marlys was preceded in death by her husband, her parents and two sisters.

Each morning as I came into town on my way to school, I would see your Mom walking with her dog. She always had a smile and wave. The last time I talked with her was this past spring. The sidewalks were very icy so I stopped to give her a ride home from Dr. Nicolai's clinic. I remember the summer she sewed Doherty Doll outfits for us.
I'm sure you'll tuck many fond memories of your Mom away in your heart. God rest her soul. My sincere sympathy to you and yours.

Message: Dear Joyce, Bob, Ken, Becky and all of Marlys's family, I just read of Marlys's passing. I will remember her as a very spunky and bright lady, and can still picture her on her daily walks whenever I visited New Rockford. Please know that my prayers are with all of you. God's gift to you are those wonderful memories, which will never die.
