Marvin Johnson
Marvin Johnson, age 87, of McHenry, ND, died Tuesday, October 2, 2012 at Golden Acres Manor in Carrington, ND. Marvin Matthew Johnson was born on February 10, 1925, the son of Artie and Angeline (Hockert) Johnson at their farm house in Eastman Township, east of Glenfield, ND. He was raised and attended grade school at Glenfield and attended High School at Valley City, ND. On December 28, 1953, Marvin was united in marriage to Elsie Guthmiller at New Rockford. They moved to Minneapolis where he worked in a factory. Later they moved near Glenfield and began farming and raising livestock, mainly hogs. Elsie died January 4, 1982. On November 11, 2000, Marvin was united in marriage to Delores Belcourt at Fargo, ND. They lived at McHenry. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church. Marvin loved to bowl, play pinochle and poker, enjoyed watching MN Twins and hunting. Marvin is survived by his wife, Delores of McHenry; 4 children, Mary Jo (Randy) Bartlett, McHenry, Connie (Jon) Stangeland, Juanita, ND, Candice (Jerry) Keller and Jim (Barbara) Johnson, both of Bismarck, ND; 11 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; 5 step-children; 15 step-grandchildren; 9 step-great-grandchildren; 1 brother, Dwight (Hilda) Johnson, Garland, TX; two sisters, Doris (Ernie) Rhoten, Helendale, CA, and Gloria Eberhardt, Moorhead, MN. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Elsie; one sister, Mary Ann Seibert; and two brothers-in-law, Anthony Eberhardt and Perry Thompson.
