Mayo Lies
Mayo M. Lies, age 73, of New Rockford, ND, died April 3, 2011, at the Lutheran Home of the Good Shepherd, New Rockford, ND. Mayo Michael Lies was born August 17, 1937, in New Rockford. He was the son of Hubert and Mary (Seiler) Lies. He grew up in New Rockford and graduated from St. James Academy in 1955. He later enlisted in the Navy from 1956 - 1960. Mayo was united in marriage to Carol Jensen on May 1, 1963. The couple made their home in New Rockford. Together they were blessed with five children. They later divorced. Mayo worked in New Rockford for Schafer Machine and Pfau Brothers Auto Body before opening Mayo’s Standard in 1969. He retired in 1995, making North Dakota Veteran’s Home in Lisbon, ND, and New Rockford, ND his home. He is survived by four sons, Rick (Nikki) Lies of Rochester, MN, Joe (Tami) Lies of Fargo, ND, Patrick (Denise) Lies of West Fargo, and Morgan (Lynnae) Lies of New Rockford, ND; one daughter, Melanie (Jeffry) Romanoski of Kohler, WI; 13 grandchildren, Andrew, Stephanie, Samuel, Ellie, Tyler, Tanner, Taylor, Alexis, and Carli Lies, Ashley, Megan, Alex, and Brock Romanoski; 7 sisters, Ramona Klocke of Fessenden, ND, Pat (Leroy) Krueger of New Rockford, ND, Shirley (John) Mayer of Richfield, MN, JoAnn (Barry) McNett of New Rockford, ND, Judy (Keith) Bartlett of Glenfield, ND, Veronica (Richard) Lively of Napoleon, MO, Susan Vanderhyde of Savage, MN; 1 brother, Robert (Marjorie) Lies of New Rockford, ND; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Mayo was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers, Jack Lies and Hubert “Bud� Lies.
