Kenneth E. Montgomery
Kenneth Montgomery, age 81, of Carrington, ND, passed away Monday, June 2, 2014, in his home.
Kenneth Edwin Montgomery was born on August 7, 1932, in Carrington, the son of Thomas and Virginia (Grover) Montgomery. He went to school in Barlow and graduated from Carrington.
On October 24, 1952, Kenneth was united in marriage to Dora McCleery in Jamestown, ND. He worked with his father, Thomas, on the family farm until Thomas’ passing and then farmed with his sons until he retired in 1997. Kenneth was a devoted husband, a loving father, and his grandchildren & great-grandchildren were the delight of his life.
God and his family were the center of his life. Kenneth was an active and faithful member of the Carrington Community Church of the Nazarene where he held various positions. He also served on the Dakota District Advisory Board for many years.
Kenneth was a board member of the Foster County Soil Conservation District and the Foster County Farmers Union. He also served as a supervisor of the Longview Township. He enjoyed many mission trips around the world; one of the highlights was his trip to the Holy Land. Kenneth enjoyed attending sporting events and was an avid gardener and fisherman.
He is survived by his wife Dora of 61 years; daughter Deborah (Kenneth) Arens of Rugby, ND; son Dennis (Betty) Montgomery of Carrington, ND; mother Virginia Montgomery of Kent, WA; brothers: Stanley Montgomery of Kent, WA, Hugh (Maca) Montgomery of Sydney, MT, Keith (Merrianne) Montgomery of Nampa, ID; sister Marilyn (Joel) Peebles of Sequim, WA; daughter-in-law DeeDee Pogatshnik of Carrington, ND; grandchildren: Crystal (Larry) Page, Janean (Justin) Gaa, Melissa (Jory) Hansen, Cody (Kim) Montgomery, Ashley (Jeremy) Hill, Amanda (Justin) Topp, Audra Montgomery; and ten great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father Thomas, son Dwight and great-grandson Hayden Hansen.
