Brian Morlock

Brian Morlock, age 49, of rural Sykeston, ND, died Saturday, July 26, 2014, at Mercy Hospital in Devils Lake, following an apparent heart attack while enjoying fishing on Devils Lake. Brian Wayne Morlock was born December 28, 1964, at Carrington, ND, the son of Vernon and Deloris (Amundson) Morlock. He graduated from Sykeston High School in May of 1983, and then attended Wahpeton School of Science (NDSCS) for Agriculture Business. Brian took over the family farm as the third generation in 1997. On March 21, 2003, Brian was united in marriage to Kim Helseth at Grace Lutheran Church in Carrington. He was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying camping, fishing, and hunting with his dog Bridget. Brian & Kim have a camper in the East Bay Campground, and many good days were spent at Devils Lake. He also enjoyed playing guitar and piano. Brian was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Sykeston, and had served as Johnson Township Supervisor for 16 years. Brian is survived by his wife Kim; 4 children Dominic Larson, West Fargo, ND, Shane (Denise) Larson, Sumter, SC, Amber Hopewell, Valley City, ND, Trisha (Sean) Schuler, Grand Forks, ND; 6 grandchildren, Jordyn, John, Demitrius, Joselyn, Anita, Nina; his parents, Vernon & Deloris Morlock of Carrington; two brothers, Bob (Juli), Casselton, ND, Darin (Brenda), Bismarck, ND; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Simon and Mathilda Morlock and Sigurd and Lillian Amundson.

My brother had a heart attack while fishing on East Bay in Devils Lake on June 22 and passed away 2 days later. He was only 48.
