Kent Otto
Kent Otto, age 72, of Grace City, ND, died Wednesday, December 3, 2014, at Carrington Health Center, Carrington, ND. Kent Russell Otto was born on August 17, 1942, in Carrington, ND, the son of Russell and Donna (Burt) Otto. He grew up on the family farm near Grace City and graduated from Grace City High School in 1960. He attended NDSU Fargo, ND, and graduated from NDSSS at Wahpeton, ND. He then returned to continue working on the family farm. Kent was united in marriage to Patricia Remboldt on January 15, 1971, in Jamestown. They moved NE of Grace City and started Otto Red Angus Cattle Ranch, which they operated and where they lived until 2007, when Jason took over the ranch, following Kent’s diagnoses with Multiple Myeloma. In addition to attending bull sales and working on the ranch, Kent’s greatest joy was to see Jason, Kelly, Tara, Jake, and Cody continuing the family livestock operation. He enjoyed playing amateur baseball when he was younger, playing and coaching boys' softball, and loved hunting. Kent was a member of First Congregational Church of New Rockford, the North Dakota Stockman’s Association, and was a brand inspector for most of his adult life. He was also a supervisor on the Eddy County Soil Conservation Board. Kent is survived by his wife Patricia; son Jason (Kelly) Otto, Grace City; grandchildren Tara, Jake and Cody; mother Donna Otto, Carrington; brother Terry (Mary) Otto, Carrington; sister Kathy (Marc) Halvorson, Fargo; three nieces, one nephew; three great-nieces and one great-nephew. He was preceded in death by his father and one son Brian.

Message: Dear Pat and Jason, so saddened to learn of Kent's passing. I know he has suffered much these past years with little complaint. He was such a good friend and neighbor when we lived near Grace City. So enjoyed playing softball with Kent and talking about cattle and farming in general. I remember having dinner at your house and laughing so much when Pat would tell some of her experiences helping Kent in the field. Life has many memories and it is these and good friends who help us all at times like this. The Otto family will be in our thoughts and prayers.
Love, Connie and Gary
