Patricia M. Pfau Wenzel

Patricia M. Pfau Wenzel, age 81, of New Rockford, died Thursday, May 3, 2012, at Altru Hospital, Grand Forks, ND, with her four children by her side.


Patricia Mae Kraus was born March 19, 1931, the daughter of Floyd and Margaret (Winberg) Kraus. She spent her entire life in New Rockford. On April 20, 1947, she married Leonard J. Pfau and they were the parents of four children. Leonard and Pat, along with Eugene and Marge Pfau, owned and operated Pfau Bros. Auto Body for over 30 years. Leonard died May 29, 1980.


On November 30, 1981, she married Les Wenzel. He died September 23, 1998.


Pat worked many years as an abstractor at Surety Title Company in New Rockford.


Pat’s biggest joys were her kids, grandkids and great grandkids. She especially enjoyed watching Saturday morning cartoons with them when they were young. She also enjoyed gardening, reading, crossword puzzles, her computer, embroidering cards, other crafts and her pets. She loved to write and in the early 1960’s she wrote the “Polly Potter� column for the Transcript. Pat suffered through many health problems over the years and was a woman of great strength and courage.


Patricia is survived by her four children, Leonard D. (Annie) Pfau, Chula Vista, CA, Sandy (Richard) O’Connor, New Rockford, ND, Jeff (MarJean) Pfau, New Rockford, ND, and Michelle (Mike) Moen, Thompson, ND; two step-children, Miki (Pete) Schossberger, Pocatello, ID and Dick (Vicky) Wenzel, Tucson, AZ; five grandchildren, Ron (Karen) O’Connor, Sarah (Bill) Gjestvang, Cindy (Matt) Adamson, Travis (Jess) Pfau, and John (Heather) Pfau; five great grandchildren, Bahia Gjestvang, Amelia Gjestvang, Connor Adamson, Owen Adamson, and Emerson Pfau; one sister, Joan (Tom) Bommersbach, Rapid City, SD; two step-sisters, Cheryl (Bruce) Gardella, Prescott, AZ and Diane Christy, CA.


She was preceded in death by her husbands, Leonard J. Pfau and Leslie R. Wenzel, and her parents, Margaret Olson and Floyd Kraus.
