Winifred “Winnie” Petsinger, age 81, of Carrington, ND, passed away peacefully at home, on Thursday, July 9, 2015

Winifred Edane Buchl was born October 12, 1933, in Harvey, ND, one of 11 children born to Joseph and Mary (Volk) Buchl.  Winifred graduated from Rugby High School, then attended the College of St. Benedict at St. Joseph, MN, and later graduated with a degree in teaching. She then taught at a country school outside Rugby. ND.

She married Harold Petsinger of Leeds, ND, on August 23, 1954 at Rugby. Harold and Winifred owned Petsinger’s Department Store at Leeds, remaining at that location for 31 years. They then relocated Petsinger’s Department Store to Carrington where after 6 years they retired.

Winnie enjoyed the Leeds Homemakers Club, the outdoors, ceramics, cooking, baking and spending time with her family and grandchildren.

Winifred is survived by her husband of 62 years, Harold;   4 children, Peggy (Miles) Clauson, Minot, ND, Pamela (Craig) Hotzler, Shakopee, MN, Patricia (Rick) Van Vleet, Huron, SD, James (fiancée Sharon Solberg) Petsinger, Carrington; 6 grandchildren: Ryan Clauson, David and Bryce Hotzler, Scott, Eric and Megan Van Vleet; 4 great grandchildren: Mason and Wyatt Hotzler, Cameron and Harper Clauson; and numerous nieces and nephews. Also her siblings, Arthur Buchl of ND, Eleanor MacDonnell of CA; Andrew (Elaine) Buchl of AR, Gladys Fluge of ND,  Marguerite (Wayne) Freund of ND, Robert Romanov of SD,  Thomas (Carol) Buchl of AK: one other brother-in-law Raymond Ratto of CA; two other sisters-in-law Dorothy Buchl of ND, and Kay Buchl of MN.

In addition to her parents, Winifred was preceded in death by her sister Irene, brothers Joseph and Stanley; a sister-in-law Veronica Buchl; and two brothers-in-law, James MacDonnell and Arnie Fluge.
