Rachel I. Johnson, age 95, of Great Falls, MT, formerly of McHenry, ND, died Friday, September 30, 2011, at Park Place Health Care Center in Great Falls, MT.

Rachel I. Maisel was born on September 26, 1916, in McHenry, ND, the daughter of John and Minnie (Schultz) Maisel. She was raised in Eddy County and was educated at Cherry Lake School #2.

On September 24, 1935, Rachel was united in marriage to Samuel O. Johnson in New Rockford, ND. The couple farmed in Brantford/McHenry areas until 1960. They moved to Montana and Washington where they managed several gas stations. After her husband’s death she moved to Great Falls, MT to be with her son David and family. In 2004, she entered the Park Place Health Care Center in Great Falls, MT.

She is survived by 2 sons, Stanley Johnson, Culbertson, MT, David (Betty) Johnson, Great Falls, MT; 3 grandsons; 2 granddaughters; 2 step-granddaughters; 9 great grandchildren; 3 step great grandchildren; 6 great great grandchildren; one sister Doris Overby, Fargo, ND; two brothers John Maisel, Spanaway, WA and Willard Maisel, Billings, MT.

Rachel is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Samuel O. Johnson, 6 brothers, 5 sisters, 2 sons Milo and Sammy, 1 daughter Carol, 1 great grandson Joshua Johnson and 1 daughter-in-law Joyce Johnson.
