Lynn Rekkedal
Lynn Rekkedal, age 63, died peacefully on Monday, February 20, 2017, in her home in Oberon ND, surrounded by friends and family. Lynn Raina Schwols was born on December 13, 1953, in Fargo, ND, the daughter of Wallace and Carol (Sandberg) Schwols. Lynn attended grade school in Fargo and Turtle Lake.
On November 14, 1972, Lynn was united in marriage to Gary Rekkedal in Minnewaukan, ND. They had been married 38 years when Gary passed away on June 14, 2011. They lived most of their married life in Oberon, ND. Lynn worked in Sheyenne and New Rockford as a teacher’s aide. Prior to her working outside of the home, she was a babysitter for many years. For Lynn, our Mom, Grandma, Sister, Auntie, Friend, an ideal weekend would be to spend time taking Amanda and her grandchildren to rummage sales using her good eye to find great bargains. She would love finishing the weekend with a country music concert, featuring favorite artists including Alan Jackson, George Strait, or Blake Shelton. But her life wasn’t just about the weekends, she worked long and hard for over 20 years at the New Rockford Sheyenne School, not only because she loved her job, but because she loved children. Lynn is survived by her daughter, Amanda and her husband Zac Mahler of Oberon, ND; grandchildren, Anthony, Breanne, Karissa, and Odin; two sisters, Patty and her husband, Dwight Jabs of Devils Lake, ND and Carla and her husband Greg Ballew of Tulsa, OK; two brothers, Charles and his wife, Kathy Schwols of Bismarck, ND, and David Schwols of Minot, ND. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gary Rekkedal; her father, Wallace Schwols; and her mother, Carol Schwols.
