Della Renner, age 91, died Friday November 8, 2013, at her residence in Carrington, ND.

Della Minerva Schaefer was born on April 17, 1922, the daughter of William and Alice (Tabbert) Schaefer on the family farm near Rogers, ND. She attended Valley City State Teacher’s College and then began her teaching career. Della taught in a number of rural one room schools including Roundtop, Goldwin, Vashti, and Pingree.

During her early teaching career, she met and married Jack Renner on November 23, 1942 in Pingree. They made the Pingree area their lifelong home. After Jack’s death in 1997, Della lived in Jamestown and then moved to Carrington in 2007.

She loved gardening, bird watching, playing whist, and spending time with her children and grandchildren.

Della is survived by her three children, Diane Olson and her husband Rock Roeck, Custer, SD, Judy Geier, Heaton, ND, and Jerry (Connie) Renner, Dalton, MN; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents William and Alice Schaefer; her husband, Jack; a brother Ralph Schaefer; and son-in-law, Doug Geier.
