Elsie Reutter
Elsie Reutter, age 94, of Carrington, ND, died Wednesday, December 29, 2010, at Golden Acres Manor, Carrington, ND.
Elsie Morlock was born on June 18, 1916, the daughter of Christian and Matilda (Winter) Morlock, at their farm home South of Sykeston, ND. She grew up and attended country school until the 6th grade, and then she was needed at home to help with the family. She helped in all areas of the old farm times. She milked cows, cooked for the harvesters, cleaned, cannned, baked and helped with her siblings.
She stayed at home on the farm until the age of 25, when the love of her life, Lawrence Reutter, had the means to ask her to be his wife. They were united in marriage on December 5, 1941. With the gift of furniture from her parents, for all her help at home, and Lawrence’s 2 cows and 2 horses, they married and started their own family.
Elsie loved her family and her church. She was a member of the Hurdsfield Lutheran Church in Hurdsfield, ND, and later Trinity Lutheran Church in Carrington. Elsie enjoyed quilting at the church for many years. She worked at the Hurdsfield School and ran the Hurdsfield Café. Elsie loved her flowers, gardening, and friends and always had coffee and goodies when someone came and a meal if it was mealtime. She never complained about anything.
Elsie will be remembered and deeply missed by her son, Kenneth (Bev) Reutter, Pingree, ND; her two daughters, Marlys (Gus) Lange, Carrington, ND and Gloria (Lee) Garrett, Elk River, MN; one daughter-in-law, Sherry (Jon) Johnson, Glenfield, ND; one sister, Ellen Neumiller, WA; three sisters-in-law, Leona Morlock, Medina, ND, Gladys Morlock, Carrington, ND, and Iva Jean Kohler, Harvey, ND; 35 grandchildren; 54 great grandchildren; 9 great great grandchildren; and her recent roommate, Deloris Nardi at Golden Acres Manor, Carrington, ND.
She will be greeted in heaven by her parents; husband, Lawrence; eight brothers, Martin, Paul, Simon, Rudy, Eddie, Harry, Harold, Walter, and two infant brothers; a son, Terry; a son-in-law, Delmar Unruh; five grandchildren; four great grandchildren; and her very special friend and roommate, Vivian Hegland.
