Rock Rindy

Rock Rindy, age 53, of Carrington, ND, passed away Friday, May 8, 2015, at his home in Carrington.

Rock William Rindy was born on February 21, 1962, in Carrington, the son of Ralph and Mabel Rindy (Nysted). Rock was raised in Carrington and graduated from Carrington High School. He was baptized at Trinity Lutheran Church and later taught Sunday school, was a youth song leader and was on the church council at Trinity. Rock had a strong faith that carried through in his actions.

He was hired by the U.S. Postal Service in 1984, as a facilitator/trainer for the Dakota District and then transitioned into a full time rural U.S. Postal Carrier. Rock was a lifetime member of Birding Drives Dakota, and working at the Convention and Visitors Bureau along with being a board member. He was also proud of Operation Round Up, which he served as a board member for many years. Rock spent much of his time volunteering with the youth 4H, and helping raise money for both the Carrington Youth Center and Crossroads Golf Club.

Rock loved his children, Paige and Rio. He enjoyed spending time with them whether they were fishing on the water or riding horse in the winter, all things took second place to his family. He was known for striking up a conversation with a stranger as easily as talking with his family, Rock enjoyed visiting with people, no matter whom they were or where they came from. He spent many hours singing, teaching music and sharing his gift of music with others. Rock was also well known for his performances as “Gunner” in the “Don’t Hug Me” shows with DPRCA at New Rockford

He is survived by his two children, Paige (Michael Johnston) Rindy of Bismarck, ND; Rio (Pam Bourlon) Rindy of Minot, ND; his first grandchild Presley Rose expected in June; one sister Brenda (Dean) Ekren of Kensal, ND; many nieces and nephews; and all of Rock's friends.

Rock was preceded in death by his parents.

Message: Rock was a dear friend that not so long ago stopped by our house to say hello.  When asked how is was, he always said, "good", even though we knew that his last years were a constant battle.  He was a, never give up, sort of guy.  Fighting to the end for the love of his family.  He will always be in our thoughts, as we purchased our property from him and Roseann.  Thanks Rock for all the good times we had together camping and trail riding.  You will be missed.
