Lyle Schwoebel
Lyle William Schwoebel, was born in New Rockford, North Dakota on December 30, 1928, and died in Portland, Oregon on November 20, 2009, at age 80.
Lyle lived an adventurous life that was made up with many of the various aspects of what makes the world go round. Family, music, world travel, fishing and hunting, sports, reading, and art were all of great interest to him and he dove into these endeavors with great gusto. Lyle's life of employment began by following the Schwoebel family history in the banking industry, but then took on so many other forms from Wall Street to teaching English in China, from driving a school bus in Boise, Idaho to ranching and many many more. Lyle was one who believed in family and searched for meaning and at the same time would be the first to embrace humor and the fun loving side of life at the drop of a hat. His life story would tell of his fearless ability to embrace change and the many ups and downs that accompany a life of moving to try to quench his thirst for learning, discovery and peace. He took his own path which lead to a kaleidoscope of relationships that would serve him in meaningful and challenging ways.
As Lyle's cremated remains are returned to New Rockford, North Dakota, to rest on the prairie from which he came, the Lyle Schwoebel extended family do so with one last imparting gesture to complete Lyle's circle of life. Placed on Lyle's grave marker will be the phrase, "Home again, home again, jiggety jig" which is what our father would tell us upon arriving home from any of our travels together. It is now our turn, as his loving family, to wish him this wonderfuly simple but musical phrase of how important it is to arrive home again and again.
Lyle William Schwoebel is preceded in death by his parents, Lynn and Mabelle Schwoebel, and joins his brother Richard Schwoebel in death, and is survived by his sister Rosemary Linderman; his daughter Karen Johnson of Superior, Wisconsin, son Fredrick Schwoebel and wife Tara of Milwaukie, Oregon , daughter Margaret Orth and husband Lee Register of Minneapolis, Minnesota, daughter Teddi Everett of Montana, son John Schwoebel; and Lyle's grandchildren Aran Schwoebel, Eugene, Oregon and Alex Schwoebel Milwaukie,Oregon, Ruby NIcholson, and Alice Nicholson both from Minneapolis, Minnesota.
GRAVESIDE SERVICE: Lyle's cremated remains will be laid to rest on June 28, 2015 with a private ceremony at Prairie Home Cemetery, New Rockford. Anyone who would like to pay their respects to Lyle may join the family from 5:00PM-5:30PM Sunday, the time which immediately follows the burial service, at the cemetery. |
