Vernon Scott, age 80, of Sheyenne, ND, died Friday, October 9, 2015, in Wedgewood Manor, Cavalier, ND.

Vernon Laverne Scott was born on May 24, 1935, in New Rockford, ND, the son of Leonard and Mary (McAvoy) Scott.  He grew up on the family farm in Sheldon Township of Eddy County. He attended Sheldon Country School. In 1958 his family moved to Sheyenne. Vernon attended The School for the Blind at Bathgate, ND, for many years before returning to Sheyenne in the 70’s.

Vernon enjoyed collecting rocks, making jewelry out of spoons, and metal art from tin cans. He also enjoyed gardening and raising potatoes, his dogs and other animals.

He is survived by his brother Bobby, Sheyenne;  his sister Linda Scott, Devils Lake;  6 niece and nephews , including his caregiver Laurie Waldner, Sheyenne, Kay Kalis, Walhalla, Donna Rue, Roxann Scott, Sara Scott and Aaron Scott, all of Bismarck; also 3 great nieces and nephews and 4 great-great nieces and nephews.

Vernon was preceded in death by his parents; 2 brothers Benny and Mervin; 1 sister Lena Gross; and 1 nephew Ben Scott.
