Eleanor Sondag
After a long and blessed life Eleanor Sondag, age 96, of Carrington, ND, passed away on Monday, May 9, 2016, at Golden Acres Manor, Carrington.
Eleanor Nolz was born April 6, 1920, the daughter of Andrew and Elizabeth (Pfann) Nolz. They lived on a farm near Sykeston, ND. She attended country school and graduated from Sykeston High School in 1938. Later she would graduate from Jamestown Business School.
Eleanor was united in marriage to Eugene Sondag on June 27, 1939, in Sykeston, ND. Together they ran the Sykeston Bar and Café. They moved to Carrington in 1947, where they operated the Carrington Hotel. They also owned the Fireside Inn until 1973. After retirement she enjoyed working at Lindrudes Dime Store and the Prairie Inn. Gene passed away in 1986. She later married Edward Sondag and enjoyed traveling the country to visit the children.
Eleanor is survived by one son, Dr. Glenn (Carol) Sondag, Elm Grove, WI; one daughter Elaine (Robert) Revak, Jeffersonville, IN; 7 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, one sisters Delores Schuman, Marysville, CA; one sister-in-law Betty Nolz; one brother-in-law Ron Nistler and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her first husband Eugene Sondag; her second husband Ed Sondag; her oldest daughter Yvonne (Thomas) Ewing, her parents, brothers: Paul Nolz and Frances Nolz, sisters: Gertrude (Ray) Wild, Irene Nistler.
