Clarice Steele

Clarice Steele, age 88, of Carrington, ND, died on Sunday, July 8, 2018, at her daughters home in Parshall, ND.

Clarice Eveline Bauge was born on November 26, 1929, in Jamestown, ND, the daughter of Art and Agnes (Dennis) Bauge. She lived with her folks at Edmunds, ND, where she attended grade school and later graduated from Carrington High School in 1947. After graduating she moved with her parents to Sumner, WA, for a short period. 

She was united in marriage to Clayton Steele on July 4, 1948, in Edmunds, ND. Every year Clayton and Clarice would ensure that they made time for their marriage by going on a trip just the two of them over their anniversary. They farmed around Edmunds for 2 years before they moved to a farm near Carrington and farmed in the Carrington and New Rockford, area where they raised their two children, Carolyn and Curtis.

Clarice worked several years at the Community Credit Union in New Rockford, before they started spending winters at their home in Mesa, Arizona.  They made many friends over the 32 winters in Arizona.  They moved into Carrington in 2004, from the farm.

Clarice was a member of Kvernes Lutheran Church, Kvernes ELCW and had been active in Nordmore Homemakers Club in her earlier years. She liked to garden, entertain friends, travel in their camper and enjoyed her grandchildren and great grandchildren. 

She is survived by her daughter, Carolyn; a daughter-in-law, Gail; 5 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.  

Clarice was preceded in death by her husband Clayton, son Curtis, and her parents.

 

Visitation: Friday from 9:00AM – 7:00PM, with a Prayer Service held at 7:00PM all in Evans Funeral Home, Carrington.

Funeral Service: Saturday, July 14, 2018 at 10:30AM in Kvernes Lutheran Church, rural Carrington, ND.

Burial: Edmunds Cemetery, Edmunds, ND.

Message: Clarice and Clayton were such good friends and consequently so generous to my parents, Benee and Joe Reiniger. Every time I visited Mesa, I visited with Clarice and Clayton because they were part of everyday life for my Mom and Dad. Curtis and Carolyn, you had great people as parents!
