LeRoy Struxness

LeRoy Struxness, 84, of Carrington, ND, died Friday, December 1, 2017, with his family by his side at Sanford Medical Center, Fargo, ND.

LeRoy Wallace Struxness was born July 22, 1933, in Woodworth, ND, the son of Otto and Edna (Hust) Struxness. He grew up in the Woodworth area attending rural schools until his graduation from Woodworth High School in 1952.

He started farming with his father as a young boy and his love of the land continued with him all of his life. LeRoy shared his passion of farming and the farm with his sons and grandson. LeRoy was always on hand at the farm running equipment and helping the boys with planting and harvest. He especially enjoyed his 600 Quadtrac tractor.

LeRoy was united in marriage to the love of his life Virginia Klundt in 1953 at the Lutheran Church in Woodworth. They had five children, Sheila, Micheal, Timothy, Mark and Suzette. He was proud to tell folks that they celebrated 64 years of marriage together this year.

He enjoyed fast cars with big engines. LeRoy was an avid sports fan, as the kids were growing up he rarely missed a sporting event. Supporting his kids as they grew was a priority for him; he loved to have them in his company on any outing. LeRoy also liked to go out fishing near the farm.

LeRoy is survived by his wife Virginia; four children, Sheila (Joe) Couture, Sidney, MT, Micheal (Sheri) Struxness, Woodworth, Mark (Mary) Struxness, Carrington, and Suzette (Gary) LaBelle, Carrington; eight grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; and one sister-in-law Barbara Struxness, San Antonio, TX.
