Alvina Svercl, age 72, of Carrington, ND, died Thursday, October 25, 2012, at Lutheran Home of the Good Shepherd in New Rockford, ND.

Alvina Marie Nelson was born on October 7, 1940, the daughter of Olaf and Alma (Tweeten) Nelson at Brocket, ND. She was raised and graduated school in Brocket. Alvina attended college at Mayville State College in Mayville, ND and received a teaching degree. She taught 1 year in Carrington in 1962-63.

On June 9, 1963, Alvina was united in marriage to William Svercl in Brocket. They made their home in Carrington.

She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and Ruth-Rachel Circle, and was a bible study leader. She enjoyed baking, cooking, sewing and reading.

Alvina is survived by her husband; two daughters, Darlene (Russell) Krapp, Buchanan, ND, and Linda Fulcher, Kerrville, TX; one son, Kenneth (Holly) Svercl, Cornville, AZ; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild
