William M. Svercl

William M. Svercl, age 80, of Carrington, ND, died Thursday, April 25, 2013, at Lutheran Home of the Good Shepherd in New Rockford, ND.

William Melvin Svercl was born on August 14, 1932, the son of William and Emma (Dolejsi) Svercl at Brocket, ND. He was raised and attended country school in the Brocket area. William enlisted in the US Army and served overseas before he received his Honorable Discharge in 1961. He completed a welding program thru correspondence from NDSSS at Wahpeton, ND, and became a certified welder.

On June 9, 1963, William was united in marriage to Alvina Nelson in Brocket. They made their home in Carrington. William worked at Steinman Manufacturing and at Rosenau Equipment before retiring in 1994. Alvina died on October 25, 2012.

He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and McCreary-Bonderud VFW Post # 3524 in Carrington. William enjoyed repairing projects.

William is survived by two daughters, Darlene (Russell) Krapp, Buchanan, ND, and Linda Fulcher, Kerrville, TX; one son, Kenneth (Holly) Svercl, Cornville, AZ; six grandchildren; one great-grandchild; two brothers, George and Archie; and three sisters, Frances, Albina, and Angela.

He was preceded in death by his parents and wife, and one brother Emil.
