Patricia Wagner

Patricia Wagner of New Rockford, ND, passed away March 11, 2016, at Villa Maria in Fargo, ND, at the age of 63 after a brave battle with cancer. Patricia Hartl was born October 18, 1952, at New Rockford, the fourth of seven children born to Vincent and Lillie (Christ) Hartl. She married Leslie Wagner of Carrington, ND, on September 18, 1971, in New Rockford, and they moved to Seattle, WA. The couple returned to North Dakota in 1974, where they raised their two children, Benjamin and Jessica, in Valley City, Ellendale, McClusky, and New Rockford. Patricia attended Minot State University where she earned her Elementary Education degree. She taught at South Prairie, Goodrich, and New Rockford-Sheyenne schools throughout the rest of her life. She also really enjoyed helping her brothers with the harvest on the family farm. The most important thing in Patricia's life was her family. She was a devoted daughter, caring for her mother for over a decade at the family homestead, a loving mother to her children, grandmother to her four grandchildren, and beloved sister and aunt to her entire extended family. She loved family gatherings and welcomed all friends and relatives as they were, with open arms and warm beds, wonderful home-cooked meals and a generous heart. She is survived by her mother Lillie of New Rockford, her children Benjamin (Caitie) Wagner of McClusky and Jessica (Case) Dillon of New Rockford, two sisters, Linda (Wilfred) Lies of Fargo, Lois (Bill) Schafer of West Fargo; two brothers, Thomas (Dawn) Hartl of New Rockford, Timothy Hartl (Kim Brown) of Sheyenne, ND; four grandchildren Roxy, Evelyn, Ava, and Killian Wagner; and many beloved nephews, nieces, and cousins. Patricia was preceded in death by her husband Les Wagner, father Vincent Hartl, sisters Rita (Richard) Barbeau and Renee (Michael) Geske, nephew Eric Schafer, and many aunts and uncles. Her family has indicated that memorials will be used to set up a Scholarship in Patricia's name at NR-S School.
PRAYER SERVICE: Friday (March 18th) at 7PM in Evans Funeral Home, New Rockford. Her family will be present to receive friends at the funeral home on Friday 5PM - until the service is completed. Message: A very wonderful and brave person has left us. I have memories of Patty as a young person when we would visit the Guler cousins in New Rockford and many more recent memories of our years as co workers at the school. She had a large inpact on 15 years of students in New Rockford-Sheyenne along with my daughter as one of those students. I will remember her as a very intelligent, competent, kind person and a good friend.
