Frieda Watson
Frieda S. Watson, age 93, of Carrington, ND, formerly of Sykeston, ND, died Thursday, September 1, 2016, with her loving husband and children beside her at Golden Acres Manor in Carrington. Frieda Susie Neumiller was born November 16, 1922, at her rural home near Heaton, to John and Elizabeth Neumiller. She was the middle child of 17 children; she grew up in Heaton and attended school at the local country school until the 8th grade. Frieda’s mother passed away at a young age, leaving Frieda as a young teenager to raise her younger siblings until they were old enough to get through school. Given the opportunity she moved to Fargo in 1957, to work for a family for five years as a care taker for their children. While living in Fargo she started dating the love of her life Kenneth. She would wait for him to visit on the weekends and enjoyed their time that the spent together. They liked to go dancing in Carrington at the Rainbow Gardens and visiting with friends. Frieda and Kenneth were united in marriage on April 11th 1962, at Grace Lutheran Church in Fargo. From this beautiful union came their two children Marlene and Curtis. They raised their children on the family farm and continued to live there until September of 1994 when they moved to Carrington. She was an active member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Sykeston, Frieda enjoyed many years of teaching Sunday School and contributing to the women’s church group. She spent time working on puzzles, word puzzles, word searches, and embroidering while inside. During the summer months she loved to be outside in her garden, working on her flower beds and bird watching. Frieda was an avid arts and crafts creator, making many Christmas ornaments a gift that she passed down to her family. After retirement she and Kenneth took many bus tours around the United States seeking new adventures and making new friends. Frieda is survived by her husband of 54 years Kenneth, her two children Marlene (Steve) Schimelfenig, Heaton, and Curtis (Brandy) Watson, Jamestown. Nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild; one sister Iola (Daryl) Rask, Carrington and one brother Jacob (Kay) Neumiller, Oak Harbor, WA; along with many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents and 14 siblings, Martha Heintz, Lydia Morlock, Susie Krause, Rudolph Neumiller, Albert Neumiller, Bertha Huss, Elsie Schock, Alfred Neumiller, John Neumiller, Lawrence Neumiller, Alvina Hoff, Clarence Neumiller, Emma Hoff, and Alice Riedel.
