Elizabeth "Betty" Winandy

Elizabeth Winandy, age 100, of Jamestown formerly of Carrington, ND, died Monday, February 29, 2016, at Jamestown Regional Medical Center, Jamestown, ND.

Elizabeth E. Bowden was born to Charles and Jessie Bowden on March 6, 1915 in Benson County.

On August 9, 1932, she was united in marriage to Adolph Balvitsch, and in 1935, they moved to Sykeston. In 1947, they moved to the Glenfield area.

 

In 1960, she started cooking at the Fireside Inn near Carrington. She moved to New Rockford in 1972, and cooked at John’s Country House. She had three children Frank Robert, and Patricia. Adolph passed away on April 26, 1972.

She continued to cook at John’s Country House until she married Bill Winandy on September 17, 1982, in New Rockford.  Following their marriage they moved to Carrington.  

Betty was a member of VFW Auxiliary of Glenfield, and two different Homemaker Clubs.

Betty is survived by her children, Robert (Marjorie) Balvitsch, Glenfield, and Patricia (Ken) Snider, Grenada, CA; two step-daughters, Judy Winandy, Sykeston and Eunice Kuntz, New Rockford; 14 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and 8 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by both husbands; one son Frank (Marilyn) Balvitsch; one step-son Jim Winandy; one step-son-in-law Gordon Kuntz and one grandson.
