Alonzo Schrader
Alonzo “Lonnie� Schrader, age 85, of Carrington, ND, died Saturday, August 29, 2009, at Carrington Health Center, Carrington, ND.
Alonzo Schrader was born on January 18, 1924, at Claire City, SD, the son of Fred and Bessie (Burch) Schrader. He was raised and attended school at Claire City. He Joined the US Army at 17 and served in WWII in the European Theater under General Patton and received the Bronze Star and Purple Heart. He returned to Claire City after the service. In 1948, he moved to Carrington, ND. He was married to Darlene Dunn for a time. On August 18, 1984, Alonzo married Emma Konok in Carrington. They lived in Carrington where he worked at the creamery, the post office, did farm work, was a grave digger, and worked at Chieftain Restaurant. For the past 2 years, Lonnie has been a resident of Golden Acres in Carrington. Lonnie and Emma loved going to auctions. Lonnie loved hunting, fishing, animals, all of God’s creation and his Creator. Lonnie is survived by his wife, Emma, of Carrington; six children, Pam (Don) Steenblock, Paris, TN, Paula Schrader, Blaine, MN, Tim (Maggie) Schrader, Bismarck, ND, Kim (Brenda) Schrader, West Fargo, ND, Lennie (Beryl) Schrader, Fargo, ND, Angie (Roger) Schleenk, Sherburn, MN; eleven grand children; two great-grandchildren; and one sister, Doris Guy, Sisseton, SD. He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Bessie; one infant brother, Herbert; and one sister, Ardell.
