Cecelia Cook

Cecelia Cook, age 84, of New Rockford, ND, died Tuesday, July 28, 2009, at Lutheran Home of the Good Shepherd, New Rockford, ND.

Cecelia Charboneau was born August 19, 1924, in Ft. Totten, ND, the daughter of Robert and Mary (Bouviere) Charboneau, and was descendant of Sacajawea. She grew up and attended school in the Ft. Totten area. Cecelia was united in marriage to Max Cook on August 30, 1951 at Crookston, MN. They lived in Ft. Totten until the early 1970’s when they moved to Oberon, ND. Max died on August 7, 1992. Cecelia later moved to the Sheyenne and New Rockford areas. In December of 2007, she moved to Lutheran Home of the Good Shepherd.

Cecelia’s most memorable job was working at the Minnewaukan School, where she was employed for many years. Cecelia was an avid sports fan, especially those involving her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed playing bingo, fishing and eating chocolate. She was a member of Seven Dolors Catholic Church. Cecelia will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

She is survived by three sons and three daughters: Ron (Bonnie) Cook, New Rockford, ND; Max, Jr. (Cheryl), West Fargo, ND; Karen (Fritz) Wetzel, New Rockford, ND; Sherry (Garth) Sander, Jamestown, ND; Jerry (Colleen), Ft. Totten, ND; Carol (Jay) Hicks, Dunn Center, ND; twenty-three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one daughter-in-law, Leah Cook, Sheyenne, ND; one son-in-law, Dan Sherman, Colorado Springs, CO; two sisters-in-law, Mary Charboneau, Ft. Totten, ND, Theresa Charboneau, Devils Lake, ND; and many nieces & nephews.

Cecelia was preceded in death by her husband, one son, Scott; four brothers, Clarence, Joe, Frank and Charlie Charboneau and a half brother, Tony Charboneau; a sister-in-law Vesper Charboneau; 2 brothers-in-law Bruce Cook & William Cook; and nephews Charles Jr., Mickey, Art, Russell, Rickey Sr., and Rickey Jr.
