Dorwin Fredrickson
Dorwin Fredrickson, age 81, of Carrington, ND, died Wednesday, April 29, 2009 at Med Center One Hospital, Bismarck, ND.
Dorwin C. “Shorty� Fredrickson was born on March 5, 1928, the son of Bert and Lauretta (Hutchinson) Fredrickson at McHenry, ND. He raised and attended schools in the Kensal, Edmunds, and Carrington areas graduating from Carrington HS in 1946. He served in the US Army in the 11th airborne from 1950-1952. On October 17, 1954, Dorwin married Mary Dunwoody at Edmunds, ND. They farmed in the Edmunds area until 1986, when they moved to Carrington. He was an ASCS county board member, long time member and President of the Stutsman Co. Ag. Improvement Association and 15 year 4-H leader. He received the Soil Conservation award and Agriculturist of the year award from NDSU. Shorty had a love for family, farming and traveling. He was a member of the Federated Church choir and American Legion. He was a volunteer for the Meals on Wheels program. He is survived by his wife, Mary, Carrington, ND; two daughters, Kathy Fredrickson, Carrington, Karen (Bill) Smith, Sheyenne, ND; one daughter-in-law, Susan Fredrickson, Pingree, ND; five grandchildren, one great-granddaughter; and one sister, Jane (Bob) Eberhardt, Jamestown, ND. Dorwin was preceded in death by his parents, Bert and Lauretta; two sons, Mark and Tom; a brother, Derry Fredrickson, and a sister, Darla Uehran.
