Eva Sorenson

Eva L. Sorenson passed away in her apartment at Gibson Creek assisted living in Salem, OR early on August 18, 2009. She celebrated her 102nd birthday last February.

Eva was born in Goodrich, ND on February 27, 1907, where she lived until age 20. It was there that she met William Sorenson, Northern Pacific depot agent. They were married in 1927 and moved to their first home in Melville, ND. After one year, they moved to Barlow, ND where they resided until 1939. They settled in Carrington, ND, where they bought a home and stayed for 56 years. Her husband, Bill died in 1988 and Eva continued living there until 1997, when she moved to San Jose, CA to be near her daughter, Thelma Turner. In September 2004, Eva moved to Salem, OR where she resided one mile from her son, Jim.

She worked 10 years as a sales clerk in a furniture and hardware store in Carrington, and was also a mother and housewife. She loved to be around people and liked to entertain. Eva enjoyed Bingo, shopping, candy and ice cream.

Eva is survived by her daughter, Thelma Turner, San Jose, CA; her son, Jim Sorenson, Salem, OR; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
