Harold Klein
Harold James Klein, age 74, of New Rockford, ND, died Monday, June 8, 2009, at the Carrington Health Center, Carrington, ND.
Harold was born September 14, 1934, in Silva, ND, the eighth child born to Frank and Christine (Ripplinger) Klein. He graduated in 1952 from Towner High School. Harold attended one year of college at Caroll College in Helena, MT. While living and working in Montana he met his future wife, Nancy. On June 6, 1957, Harold was united in marriage to Nancy Campbell in Towner, ND. They moved to New Rockford and started farming, which was his passion in life. They spent their winters in Scottsdale, AZ since 1981, where many new friendships and ventures were formed. He loved farming, golfing, fishing, telling jokes, socializing and spending time with friends and family. Harold had a valiant fight with Parkinson’s disease for many years. He was a member of NFO, ND Shriners, North Dakota Wheat Commission, ND Stockmen’s Association and St. John’s Catholic Church. Harold is survived by two sons, Daniel (Jeri Lynn) Klein, Scottsdale, AZ; Thomas (Holly Jean) Klein, Kalispell, MT; two daughters, Mary (Ron) Schaefer, New Rockford, ND; Maureen (Jerry) Knudsen, Ada, MN; eleven grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; one brother and five sisters; his in-laws, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy; his parents; three brothers, Henry, Leo, Gerald; and one sister, Eleanor Schall.
