Kenneth Munson
Kenny Munson, age 67, of New Rockford, ND, surrounded by his loving family, and under the care of Presentation Hospice, was called to heaven Friday, March 13, 2009, following a courageous battle with cancer.
Kenny was born June 30, 1941 on the family farm near Juanita, ND. Kenny was one of four sons born to Tollef and Sophie (Veen) Munson. He grew up and attended school in Juanita. Kenny’s first job was harvesting June grass seed with his brothers. At the young age of 16, he began his 51-year road construction career. Forty-five of these years he spent as a finish roller operator. Companies he worked for include: William Collins & Son, Collins Construction Corp., Nodak Construction, Lakes Paving and most recently Border States Paving. Through these construction days Kenny worked in North Dakota, South Dakota, Wyoming, Minnesota, Nebraska and Montana. During the construction off-season you could find Kenny working at 281 Standard Station or helping various farmers complete their work. Kenny enjoyed spending time with his family here in North Dakota and Georgia. Hobbies over the years consisted of meticulously maintaining his vehicles, walking, playing dice with his friends, breakfast at Rockford Cafe, yard work and riding around town on his new scooter. Kenny and Barbara (Roaldson) were united in marriage on May 31, 1963 at Glenfield, ND. Through this union of 45 years they had 3 sons. Surviving Kenny are his wife Barbara, New Rockford, ND; his three sons Kevin (Brenda), Jamestown, ND; Steven (Shawn), Williamson, GA and Chad (Bonnie Hexum), Fargo, ND; 4 grandchildren Brittany, Bethany, Skylar and Hunter. Surviving brothers include: Merle (Eunice), Glenfield, ND; Dale (Janice), Grace City, ND, Tom (Jeanette), New Rockford, ND, and several nieces and nephews. His parents, paternal grandparents Johan and Matea (Erikson) Munson, maternal grandparents Theodore and Martha Veen and a sister-in-law Connie Munson preceded Kenny in death.
