Lloyd Lawrence Peterson was born on March 20, 1925, on the family farm at Barlow, ND, the son of Lawrence and Elsie (Kuehn) Peterson. He attended school at Birtsell Township #4, rural Foster County, thru the 6th grade, Sykeston Public School for 7th and 8th grade, and graduated Carrington High School in 1941. Lloyd served in WWII in the US Army Air Corps and was Honorably Discharged in 1946. He returned to Carrington and partnered with his father in the Motor Inn, an auto repair business.

On April 11, 1943, Lloyd was married to Joyce Footitt in Carrington. He was a partner in the Motor Inn at Carrington. After his father’s retirement in 1958, he began working for Carrington Post Office as a mail carrier and also maintained the bowling machines at Carrington Bowling Alley. Lloyd retired from the US Postal Service in 1985.

On May 29, 2004, Lloyd married Gloria Young at Grace Lutheran Church in Carrington. They shared their life together in Carrington.

He was a life member of Carrington Legion, was active in Carrington Senior Citizens, and enjoyed many activities including traveling, fishing, gardening, and playing cards.

Lloyd is survived by his wife Gloria, Carrington, ND; two daughters, Laurel (Joe) Bagan, Denver, CO, Debra Peterson, New Rockford, ND; three step-daughters, Darla Becker, Jamestown, ND, Bonnie (Craig) Hoggarth, Kensal, ND, Cheryl (Paul) Bauer, Williston, ND; three step-sons, Wallace (Eileen) Darkow, Sawyer, ND, Lloyd (Gail) Kollman, Kensal, ND, Loren (Deb) Kollman, Devils Lake, ND; twenty step-grandchildren; twenty four step-great-grandchildren; two brothers, LaVerne (Catherine) Peterson, Carrington, ND, and Cyril (Ora) Peterson, Canyon Lake, CA.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife Joyce; one daughter Kathleen Morgan; two sons, Larry and Robert; and one brother Donald.
