Margaret McDaniel
Margaret McDaniel, age 97, of Carrington, ND, formerly of Glenfield, ND, died Tuesday, July 28, 2009, at Golden Acres Manor, Carrington.
Margaret Violet Johnson was born November 15, 1911 in Glenfield township, the daughter of Herman and Hildur (Lund) Johnson, who were both immigrants from Sweden. She attended school in Glenfield and was a member of the first graduating class of the Glenfield School in 1930. She taught school in rural Glenfield Township for two years after attending Valley City State University. On February 21, 1936, Margaret was united in marriage to Arnold McDaniel in Carrington, ND. They lived on the farm east of Glenfield from 1941 until 2000, when they moved to Holy Family Villa in Carrington. After Arnold died November 8, 2001, Margaret continued to live at Holy Family until February of 2008 when she moved to Golden Acres Manor. Margaret was always very active in the Glenfield community and Lutheran Church. Margaret will be remembered and deeply missed by her three sons, Monte (Pat) of Valley City, ND, Joel (Joy) of West Fargo, ND, and Paul (Avis) of St. Peter, MN; six grandchildren, Jim (Wendy) McDaniel, Mark (Keele) McDaniel, Amy (Kent) Moser, Bruce (Kristie) McDaniel, Emily (Kris) Kracht, and Erin (DJ) Damberger; eleven great-grandchildren, Megan, Madison, Chase, Kyle, Abby, Sam, Ellie, Luke, Eva, Noah, and Mary; two sisters, Hyllis McDaniel of Devils Lake, ND, and Betty Johnson of Glenfield, ND. She was preceded in death by her husband, Arnold; parents, an infant daughter, three brothers, Francis, LeRoy, and Willmar; and two sisters, Elsie and Leone.
