Ordis Haas
On August 12, 2009, Ordis Ann Haas, age 70, of Carrington ND, took the hand held out to her and received God’s promise of Eternal Life.
Ordis Ann Engel was born on September 1, 1938, at McVille, ND, to Orville and Aase (Tollefsrud) Engel. Her childhood was filled with joyful memories of farm living by Tolna, ND. Her family faced a difficult time with the loss of their mother in 1955. As the oldest, Ordis helped her father raise her younger siblings. On June 22, 1958, she married the love of her life, Lawrence Haas, in Tolna, ND. Together they made a home and raised four children at Reimers Seed Farm south of Carrington. Ordis and Lawrence wintered in Arizona for the past 14 years. They spent 51 years showing their love and devotion to one another. Where you saw one, you saw the other. Ordis was an at-home mom who found much joy and happiness in caring for her husband, children, grandchildren, friends, and many neighborhood children. She truly loved and cared for everyone and had a gift for finding the best in each person. Ordis loved spending time with family, especially events involving her grandchildren. She had a passion for gardening, quilting, sewing, baking, camping, and reading. She spent many hours volunteering with church. She was a member of Grace Lutheran LWML and her neighborhood Birthday Club. She is survived by her husband; a son Owen (Jean) Haas, Lemmon, SD; three daughters, Laurie (Neil) Kramer & Vickie Hatlewick, both of Jamestown, ND, Kathie (Gregg) Eguchi, Glendale, AZ; a former son-in-law Brian Hatlewick, Jamestown; 6 grandchildren, Jason and Kayla Haas, Natalie and Allison Kramer, and Seth and Stacie Hatlewick; a brother Glenn (JoAnne) Engle, Lincoln, NE, a sister Renita (Knut) Kjenslie, Claremont, FL; two brothers-in-law, Robert Haas, Mandan, ND, James (Judy) Haas, Payson, AZ; and two sisters-in-law, Kay Russell, Minneapolis, MN, Shirley Haas, Fargo, ND; and several nieces and nephews. Ordis was preceded in death by her parents, a son-in-law Scott Cluff, her father-in-law and mother-in-law, 2 brothers-in-law, and 2 sisters-in-law.
