Ray Hendrickson

Ray Hendrickson, 73, of Ada, Minnesota, died Sunday, January 25, 2009, at his residence under
the care of Hospice of The Red River Valley.

Ray, son of Olaf and Marjorie (Rea) Hendrickson was born on June 7, 1935 in New Rockford, North Dakota. He grew up and attended school in Sheyenne, ND, and graduated from Sheyenne High School in 1953. He earned his bachelors degree from Mayville State University, Mayville, ND, in 1957. Ray taught and coached for 4 years in Clifford, ND. He then taught and coached for nine years at Glenfield-Sutton (ND) Public School. Ray was united in marriage to Donna Olofson on April 3, 1959, in Clifford. They moved to Ada in 1970, where Ray taught History, Social Studies, and served as Athletic Director. He retired from teaching in 1998.

Over the years, he farmed the family farm near Sheyenne. He enjoyed hunting, his fishing trips
(especially to Canada), and gardening. He was very active in North Dakota Amateur Baseball, and twice elected to the all state team. He was a member of Grandfield Lutheran Church, Sheyenne and Grace
Lutheran Church in Ada.

Ray’s family was very important to him, especially spending time with his special needs daughter Marla, and his grandchildren.

Ray is survived by his wife, Donna, two sons, Gary (Gail Risovi) Hendrickson, Olathe, KS, Jay (Georgia) Hendrickson, Carrington, ND, one daughter, Marla Hendrickson, Moorhead, MN, three grandchildren, Skyler, Cole, and Wyatt, one sister, Marjean (Jim) Woodrow, Grand Forks, ND, and several nieces and nephews.
