Squeak Lies
Stephen “Squeak� Lies, age 68, of Grace City, formerly of New Rockford, ND, died Tuesday, July 21, 2009, at MeritCare Hospital in Fargo, ND.
Stephen Charles Lies, known as Squeak, was born August 31, 1940, in New Rockford, ND, the son of Charles M. and Della E. (Stephenson) Lies. He attended school at St. James Academy in New Rockford and graduated in 1958. Squeak worked for Archie Campbell Construction, New Rockford, and then moved to Montana where he worked for H.O. Bell Motors at Missoula and Bitteroot Supply, Stevensville. In 1965, he moved to Seattle, WA, and worked for NW Wire. In 1966, Squeak was united in marriage to Roberta Madson in Seattle, WA. They moved to New Rockford in 1972, where he owned and operated Squeak’s Phillips 66 until 1982. They moved to Bismarck, ND, where he worked for Clark Equipment (Bobcat) until retiring on January 1, 2003. They moved to Lake Juanita, near Grace City, ND, in 2004. He is survived by his wife, Bobbi, two sons; Roger (Janelle) Lies, Jamestown, ND, Bill Lies, Fargo, ND; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; his mother, Della VanDorn, Seattle, WA; one brother, Sam (Patty) Samberg, Seattle, WA; and five aunts and many cousins. Squeak was preceded in death by his father, Charles Lies, and several uncles, aunts and cousins.
