Adam J. Malinski, Passed Wednesday, January 10, 2018, at the age 97, at Ava Maria Village, Jamestown, ND.

Adam J Malinski was born September 17, 1920, in New Home, ND, the son of Joseph and Victoria (Friez) Malinski, He attended Lowery Township Country School, he then attended Hieburn Consolidated School for two years and two years in Carrington High School, he graduated in 1940. During his school days Adam also lettered in Track, running the mile in 4 min and 2secs and had a talent for Basketball. After high school Adam and a few of his friends moved out to Washington in a Model A Roadster.  While there he picked cherries, sweet peas, and pears. That fall he moved back to Carrington area and picked bundles of grain for the thrashing machines.  After the harvest he traveled to Chicago to look for work. While there he worked at Johnsons Restaurant and became the manager. In 1941, the war broke out and he and his brother Ed returned home. Ed had received his draft notice and in 1942, Adam enlisted in the Army Air Force. He trained as an Airplane Mechanic at Ft. Sill, OK, and Ft. Leonard Wood, MO. After being honorably discharged in 1943, he returned to his home in New Home.

Adam was united in marriage to LaVern Olive Hart on June 10, 1944, in Jamestown, ND.  They farmed in Lowery Township, 13 miles south of Sykeston. There they raised beef, pigs, and milked cows for 27 years. They had and raised four daughters, Sheila, Dianne, Gail, and Pamela. 1972 they sold the farm and moved into Carrington. There they set up a Sears Authorized Catalog Sales Store, located at 963 Main Street and a Floral Store right next door. Adam was also well known for his bike repair shop MM. He always enjoyed fixing bikes for kids and anyone who came up to the door with a flat or broken bike. When there was a kid who didn’t have a bike he would either give them a bike or let them use one for the day and bring it back. Adam was a 4-H leader for many years and helped his daughters with their cattle and horse projects. While still on the farm he was a member of the Edmonds Toast Masters.

He was a board member for the Lowery Township. A member of the LLL for many years. He was a member of New Home German Lutheran Church. As a church member he helped build the Redeemer Lutheran Church in Woodworth, ND. When they moved to Carrington they transferred their church membership and helped build Grace Lutheran Church. He was 50+ years with the American Legion, he was seen many times carrying the flag parades and as a delegate for many years. He was a member of the Jockey Club #4 and was known for his running of the pool table at the age of 90, and enjoying every minute of it. He also beat the first place team to win the first place trophy.

Adam loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them. He was on various bowling leagues. He was also an avid hunter and fisherman. He was a sharp shooter and in 1977, he received a trophy for getting 25 out of 25 in a trap shoot contest.

Adam is survived by his wife of 74 years, LaVern, Jamestown; four daughters Sheila Foos, Billings, MT, Dianne (Bo) Bollen, Covina, CA, Gail (Ron) Marsolek, Jamestown, Pamela (Jimmy Ray) Twardy, Apple Valley, MN; bother Raymond Malinski; sisters Dodie (Christ) Graff, Jamestown, Helen Johnson, Billings, MT, Judy (Jake) Braunburger, Jamestown; and two grandsons Jonathan Marsolek and Jordon Malinski.

He was preceded in death by his parents Joseph and Victoria, brothers Raymond, Edward, and Chester; sisters Helen and May; one grandson Joshua Adam Marsolek.
